For the fifth consecutive year, Statements Tile is purchasing carbon offsets equal to or greater than the total amount of carbon we emit importing tile, driving company vehicles, and on business travel. At the same time, we are working to reduce our overall environmental footprint through a robust office recycling program, a first in the nation tile recycling program, and through our unique product selection program that evaluates new products on eight separate criteria for sustainability.

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities in assigned accounts and regions and for the expansion of Statements’ customer base.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Present and sell company products (tile and stone) to floorcovering retailers, contractors, homeowners and others.
2. Follow up on new leads and referrals resulting from field and marketing activities.
3. Identify sales prospects and contact these and other accounts as assigned.
4. Prepare and execute product knowledge presentations.
5. Develop and maintain sales materials and current product knowledge.
6. Track large scale projects for timely delivery of material.
7. Respond to customer concerns in a timely, courteous, and knowledgeable manner.
8. Coordinate customer shipping needs with the customer service department to provide timely and cost effective options to the customer.
9. Review sales reports to identify positive and negative trends.
10. Communicate new product opportunities, special developments, information, or feedback gathered through field activity to appropriate company staff.
11. Develop and implement special sales activities to reduce stock.
12. Other duties as assigned.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Participate in marketing events such as seminars, trade shows, and telemarketing events.
2. Follow-up for collection of payment.
3. Coordinate shipping schedules and delivery of merchandise and services.
4. Provide on-the-job training to new sales employees.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

1. Reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
2. Ability to persuade and influence others. Ability to develop and deliver presentations. Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Knowledge of advertising and sales promotion techniques. This is normally acquired through a combination of the completion of a Bachelor’s Degree and three to five years of sales or marketing experience.
3. Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
4. Work requires significant local travel to current and potential clients. This requires the possession of a valid state drivers license.
5. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Working conditions are normal for an office environment. Work requires significant local travel and may require occasional overnight travel and weekend and/or evening work.
