In 2003 a young college student from Tacoma who worked at Abbey Carpet got accepted to the University of Washington in their geography department. After picking up tile from Statements for many years he decided he wanted to work here and asked Tony if they were hiring. Tony was hiring part time and that is how Kyle Uskevich came to Statements. “His last name may sound Russian but it starts with U-S,” says Nate about Kyle. It is reasons like Nate and the other guys who work in the warehouse that make Kyle enjoy his job so much. He considers the warehouse physically demanding and enjoys being able to work with fun people in a positive environment. The physical part of his job should be something he likes considering one of his hobbies is weight lifting. He also really enjoys golf and learning. His love of golf could be one of the reasons Kyle enjoys living in the Northwest. Being a native Seattleite, who grew up in West Seattle, Kyle really enjoys the many seasons the Northwest has to offer. He likes that he can snowboard in the winter and enjoy water sports and golf in the summer.
As many may know Kyle is getting married, but as many may not know a date has been set! On August 2nd. Kyle will marry Mattea in Ballard. At this point Kyle is very excited about the wedding and can’t wait for August 2nd to come. Its Kyles excitement and anticipation and his positive attitude that always keep a smile on his face and a kind greeting, even first thing in the morning no matter how tired he is.

I did study Geography at the University of Washington. My concentration was in Regional and International Development where I focused mostly on development theory and history. Interesting stuff!!!

I was searching for information on tile for our kitchen renovation and came across the blog and information…As a geography instructor at CSU (California State), I’m saddened you left the field…I assume with degree in hand. However, having also worked in retail for over 15 years, I can sympathize with your recent choice…Best of luck and congrats on the marriage…perhaps there will be some ‘new (young)geographers’ when they come along in the future…
